We recommend using dielectric grease on small gauge (22–26 AWG) wires for the RS-485 and Pulse Output wire connections. Dielectric grease protects the exposed metal portions of the wire and prevent corrosion when the wires are exposed to weather or other harsh environments. The grease can be added to wire nuts, lever nuts, or other methods of joining wires together.
These small gauge wire junctions are commonly the weakest link in the entire system, so it pays to make sure that they will last for years without any issues. Dielectric grease provides a way to do just that.
